blyfri
blyfri is a documentary project about Norway’s underground car community — not the one most think of. We’re not Raggare. The year splits into two seasons. In summer, it’s about horsepower, tuning, and looks. When winter hits, the roads get salted. Summer cars go into storage. Winter cars come out — cheap, dented, ready for a beating. What, where, and when is kept secret, spread through encrypted apps, word of mouth, or private Snapchat stories. Flashlights for signaling, walkie-talkies keep us talking from car to car.
This project shows my view of that world — from someone who lives it.
This is a lifestyle. Not a hobby. Not a phase.
For many, it’s where all their time, money, and energy go — into their cars and people. Some build dream cars, others buy cheap wrecks for winter fun. You crash? That’s okay. It’s part of it.
Most of the public doesn’t see this. They see police chases, crashes, illegality. Yes, some is illegal. But that’s not the whole story, not even half.
This is about A network of crews and friendships across Norway. For some, the only real community they have.
Bad day? You take a drive.
Lonely? You’ll find someone out.
It’s what people look forward to every weekend.
For many, it’s the only thing that makes them feel alive.
